The Department of Military Affairs would like to announce a new vacant position in the capacity of Program Director Starbase located at the 125th Fighter Wing in Jacksonville - FL. The candidate must meet the below mentioned requirements. External and internal applicants are encouraged to apply. Bachelor's Degree with a major in business management, business administration, education, or related field and 2 years experience as an educator or academic administrator, money management, business management, or program managementOR;

Associate's Degree with a major business management, business administration, education, or related field and 4 years experience as an educator or academics administrator, money management, business management, or program managementOR;

A High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years experience as an educator or academics administrator, money management, business management, or program management

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook, and Windows Explorer, Access.


The Program Director, STARBASE works independently to perform managerial and administrative duties associated with the STARBASE Florida Academy as follows:

Coordinates instructional activities to include staff development and curriculum design and ensures compliance with Starbase program directives. Selects target schools, contacts principals, arranges for pre and post testing, assigns instructors and assures that core curriculum requirements are met as set forth in DDODI 10255.7 (Sept 14, 2000), page 12, enclosure 3, and is integrated with local school district academic initiatives and standards.

Responsible for non-instructional administrative activities to include assuring work days and leave schedules are aligned with local school district, observing all holidays, breaks, planning days and certification training days. Presents a program summary to the Board of Directors on a quarterly basis. Provides agenda items for the Board of Directors' quarterly meetings and a STARBASE program presentation for the Adjutant General annually.

Develops, organizes, and manages all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the Academy. Establishes and maintains liaison with state leadership, the Board of Directors, and the military host for facilities and program support. Works with local community school systems for teacher support, student access, and transportation. Communicates with community leaders for input, support and community relations. Works with State Quartermaster and State Human Resource Office for financial management and program support. Maintains contact with the National Guard STARBASE program Manager and Department of Defense Resource Manager for report and budget submittals.

Supervises the STARBASE staff to include the Deputy Director, program instructors and administrative personnel. Handles all personnel actions to include disciplinary issues and dismissals.
